Well being new here I thought this might be a good place to start than by telling my story.

Vaping for me started only 8 months ago , I am 64yrs old and started smoking when I was just 14yrs old , I think at the time a pack of 20 cigarettes was about 45 cents but they may have been even cheaper I find it hard to remember back that far !

Back then everyone smoked and I do mean everyone , it was the in thing ,if you didn't smoke you were almost an outcast. So for 50yrs I have been smoking a pack a day and on todays costs that is around $150 a week !
I never really wanted to give up smoking until about 10yrs ago and that was bought about by the thinning out of my life long friends, one by one the where dying off from smoking related diseases and I realised if I wanted to stay in the land of the living I needed to quit !

So for ten long years like many others I tried just about every thing on the market to give it away, I think in that ten years I must have given up about 20 times only to be drawn back to it after a month or so.
Then 3yrs back i noticed i was having problems walking any distance and it just kept getting worse at first I thought I just wasn't getting enough exercise but it just kept getting worse until i couldn't walk 20 mts without being in pain.

The doctors diagnosed blocked arteries in both legs and told me I needed a bypass in my right leg and a stent in my left leg, They also told me they wouldn't bother to do the operation unless i gave up the smokes and i i didn't have the operation I would most likely lose my legs in the next 4 to 5 yrs, this was a pretty good incentive to give up.

As well as running an appliance rentals business in Ballarat and Shepparton I am a musician / singer song righter play online in a international band, one of the band members in Germany suggested i try E Cigarettes and at the time i knew nothing about it so i went to the service station and bought my first E Cigarette.
Well wasn't that a waste of time $16 and three hours later the battery died and so did my enthusiasm.

My friend then said no you need to try vaping !
With no idea of what i needed I started searching Ballarat for somewhere to buy one to no avail.
Eventually after many hours on the net I went to Melbourne and bought my first vape kit an istick 50w with an Aspire Nautilus tank after 3days vaping i never had another cigarette . ( Go me )

As many of my clients came to my shop and saw me vaping they wanted me to get them one as well !
As an absolute beginner i found the web sites very confusing if you were new to vaping and i remember thinking someone needs to open a vape business in Ballarat ( At that time i didn't know Steve had Victory Vape at Daylsford ) and so i decided to start up my own vape business and that is how OzzVape started just a few weeks back ! One thing i do want to do is to dedicate my business more for the beginner to vaping as my own experience was daunting so i will not be keeping a huge range with every gadget available just good reliable equipment !

I am also manufacturing my own range of vape again this will not be a huge range but i will try to make it affordable and high quality !

Well thats about it ! Other than to say every time i sell someone a mod i feel great as i know im helping someone with to a healthier lifestyle .

Thanks for sharing your story Keith, also good idea for regular meets at Babushka. My only comment is we don't have the huge population of a lge city and the meets might Fizzle out if held monthly. I would suggest every 6 to 8 weeks might be more sustainable in the long run.

Great story Keith. It's odd to think that you learned about vaping from someone in Germany, I love the international vaping community. Specialising in beginners equipment is a good idea because that is the time when people need the most help through the maze. Good on you.

In that case, I think $5 to the NNA Au would be great and people love to donate to a good cause - especially one that is fighting for our rights as Vapers :)
